Handmade beautiful and unique ceramic head with wonderful details. Made in Krakow, Poland.
Heads measure approximately 7" high by 5" wide
Heads are modeled after the heads in the ceiling of the Deputies Hall in Wawel Royal Castle in Krakow, Poland. The Deputies Hall was a site of Parliament hearings with the King. It was also where the King was receiving delegations. The coffered ceiling is adorned with sculptures of little heads of men and women. Originally there were 194 heads, but due to tumultuous past of the Castle, only 30 are preserved. The heads depict: kings, soldiers, courtiers.
I found these heads at a shop at the Castle and I bought as many as we could carry. Transporting them back home to the US was an adventure in itself. I had a plan for these but plans change and now they are available to you in very limited quantities.
Please see photos for descriptions. Some have a bit of paint damage in the back that can not be seen when hung and one (blue neck with brown hair - woman?) has a small loss of paint just above the ear.
These heads are fragile and should be hung with great care in a spot where they won't fall if a door slams, etc.
